Elisa’s Story
In 2005 Elisa co-founded BlogHer, Inc. and served as its COO until late 2014, when BlogHer achieved an exit by joining forces with SheKnows Media, where she now serves as the Chief Community Officer. BlogHer was a movement that created a market, working with thousands of women to grow their audiences, find their voices and their tribes, hone their skills, and know their worth. To the tune of tens of millions of dollars paid to the women in the BlogHer network for their work and their reach.
In her current role at SheKnows, Elisa evangelizes the company’s many mission-driven core initiatives to the community, and continues to oversee the company’s events business, as well as hosting the SheKnows podcast, Who SheKnows. Elisa lives to shine a spotlight on the power and influence of what women are doing online…from changing their lives to changing the world. And to be an instigator. Elisa speaks to individual and groups of makers, creators, entrepreneurs, and writers about how to take their idea, their work, their business to the next level. Elisa serves on the Board of Directors of the 42nd Street Moon Theatre in San Francisco, the programming advisory committee for SXSW Interactive and the Advisory Boards of Hack the Hood and Our Hen House, an animal rights-focused media non-profit.
